Broke? Oh you’re in College

Now, be honest with me. Are you in or have you ever been in college? Were/are you like me: getting excited when you find one dollar extra that you thought you didn’t have? Yeah, it is pretty tough trying to become doctors, lawyers, nurses, when you can’t even afford one yourself. Now that may be too extreme, however I know you would choose food over that disgusting rash that hasn’t gone away in 4 months.

Well, I am here to tell you to stop thinking of getting a Sugar Daddy and start looking to Jesus!

If you are reading this, I’m sure you are in a relationship with Him now or looking to be in one. If you came across this as an atheist, then finally decided you are poor and this is your last resort, I WELCOME you. I totally feel you.

Before I go on, I encourage you to seek Jesus for everything in your life. Got an A? PRAY. Didn’t trip in front of that cute guy from Math? PRAY. Constipation? PRAY. He is with you all the time and helps you with all that goes on… ALL… gross poop stories starting to pop into your head?

Okay Rebecca, time to talk about being broke.

I was living off of 91 cents for about a week and was literally dying. I mean I had food, PRAY, and everything I needed. I was just so afraid that when I ran out I would still have 91 cents. Now, I don’t remember if I asked God to send me some money or if he just wanted to see me stop struggling, but he sent down three beautiful angels and blessed me with money: My mom, aunt, and grandma.

Why do I tell you this? Well, God is always there. I have been praying a lot lately but none of it had to do with money. It was all for other people. So, I am hear to tell you: The more you believe and the stronger you become, God will be there all the time. He knows when you are struggling. Just remember he makes all things work together for your good.

Buy food from the cheapest grocery store around. Here its “Winco” and is seriously my best friend. Instead of buying new soap dispensers every every two weeks and spending more then $10 every 2 months, buy a huge soap bottle and spend $3! Buy generic brands on some foods (not all). Get a lot of toilet paper instead of buying a little bit all the time. Little money savers like this have saved me and I, weirdly, thank God for helping me grow up in a low income family! I learned all the cheap lunch, dinner, and breakfast ideas!

Also remember that you are not the only one in need. If you have $5 and a fridge full of groceries either bless them with food or some money.

You may be the answer to their prayers, then you will soon find the answer to yours!

So, to close, I bring you a verse: Matthew 6:31-34

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Christian in College

Entering an entirely different world has caused several college students to get sick, get wasted, and even get connected. By what I’ve seen already, “College” should be a synonym for “Temptation”. With alcohol, drugs, and freedom all around there seems to be no reason as to why you should pass on the opportunity to get totally drunk and/or high. Drugs are so easy to obtain even when one is under age or illegally using. In the privacy of ones dorm, it is even simpler to sneak it in. There are no parents or guardians that will “catch” you with your light on at 3am or smoke coming out of your bathroom.
Now hold on I am not trying to help you figure out how to get turnt in your dorm room with no one noticing, I’m explaining how, with the lack of authority, you can get into huge self-trouble.

Biblically, alcohol is TOTES against what Jesus wants us to do. Don’t believe me?

Ephesians 5:18 ESV
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit…”

Debauchery-excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures.
Everything you do should be for Jesus, not for your pleasure.
I’m not saying don’t do things that make you happy and be miserable for the rest of your life. But if not drinking makes you miserable, you need help.

Proverbs 20:1 ESV
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.”

I mean, I want to be wise and I want God to think I’m wise. Soooooo.

1 Peter 5:8 ESV
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Okay, is it just me or does this sound a little rape-y, “Seeking someone to devour”. Is this verse trying to prevent us from getting raped? OMG.

And, “…roaring lion…seeking someone to devour…” sounds a lot like

“Baby, I’m preying on you tonight
Hunt you down, eat you alive
Just like animals, animals, like animals-mals”

Is it just me, or does Maroon 5 need some Jesus?

The “Lion” = “Devil” in this verse. Does that mean Adam Levine is a Lion? AAAHHHHH

I am not here to judge you on whether you drink, I just want you to consider the fact that God sees you in a certain way. He thinks very highly of you. Please think highly of yourself. Don’t disappoint Him. Before you take that drink, make sure you really want it. Make sure you can control yourself. If you know you can have fun without it, welcome to the crew! If you decide to do it, don’t drink too much because maroon 5 will find you.

Do opposites REALLY attract?

Recently, I have fallen in love with my best friend. This has opened my eyes to what perfection is when it comes to a man. What a woman falls in love with, is what catches their eyes emotionally then their man becomes beautiful inside and out.

You’ve all seen the movies where they use the most common ‘crush’ line, “OMG we have so much in common!”
Usually you don’t see, “We have nothing in common at all, I love you.” Because as a human, we want to share the things we love with others who have the same passion. It just makes life a lot more fun!

Now lets get to the spiritual side of this, don’t think I forgot!

As christians, we should always aim for a partner who has a never ending love for Jesus Christ. Why? Because your values will be very similar and it will be easier to compromise on certain aspects of your relationships.

If you are with a man who constantly goes against all of your beliefs, you’re going to a have a pretty hard time trying to deal with him and all of his actions. In one of my posts, I spoke on the rules that God has given us and how they are actually HUGE life savers.

Real life example time!♥

Once upon a time, there was a girl (Jill) and a boy (Jack) who met through a friend. These two started dating before they even became friends. As the days went by Jill started finding out really bad habits that Jack had. She always told him, “I would appreciate if you quit” and he would say “Sorry, I’m not going to.” Jill would get really mad but, it wasn’t enough to break up with him. More days go by and she notices that he’s being a controlling and jealous freak. However, it STILL wasn’t enough for her to end it . The biggest factor, in my opinion, though was that he was 100% atheist and she was a new born christian. He shot down the entire idea of God, rudely. And again, it still wasn’t enough to end it. He was a bad influence because he did not have the beliefs and values that Jill had just learned and practiced which started leading her a different way. Finally, after a lot of convincing by Jill’s close friends and a smack in the face by reality, she ended it. Till this day, Jack is still hurt by what he thinks was a “No Reason Breakup.” In the end, she was happier and found new people to surround herself with, and he continued with his life.

→1 Corinthians 15:33: Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

→Proverbs 13:20: “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”

The bible itself tells us to stay away from making close ties with those who go against everything you stand for.
So, just do it.

This (omg we have a lot in common) does not have to only relate to “Jesus stuff” it can be:

  • Shows you like
  • Humor
  • I can’t think of anything right now but I’ll let you fill in the blanks
  • _________
  • _________
  • _________

Knowing that you can talk about passions with someone else without being ignored or feeling stupid sounds pretty good, don’t ya think? Now, they don’t have to be 100% percent you. If that were true, there would be a hundred times more divorces then there are now, am I right? Hey girlfriend, don’t act like you’re perfect! I’m just saying, the big parts of your life that mean a lot to you should be shared with someone else.

For me, it’s my love for God and my humor. The fact that the person I am with values both those important factors tremendously makes me love him even more!

So, what I hope you learned today is: Don’t settle for less, you’re worth more than you think and the right guy will come along and show you how special you are to this world. He will love you like no one else can (in this world of course). He will even teach you to love yourself. Ladies, please reject those guys who do things like stare at you as your walking by and say “Hey ma’ let me get your number” or see you in the car next to them and ask for your number right then. That’s not love or even potential love, in my opinion. Find a guy you know, let’s get your best friend out of the oh so frowned upon by men:

 “Friend Zone”

Have a great day & don’t forget to smile often even if it causes wrinkles in the future!

Why do you hate Gays?

I’ve gotten this question so many times, and every time I do I think,

What in the world? When did I ever say that?”

(See what I did there?)

As you know, or as you’re about to learn, all sins are equal! Now you’re thinking, “She thinks homosexuality is a sin?” The answer is yes! I live according to the bible, I do all I can to follow everything that God displays for me!

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.” -Lev. 18:22

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.” -Lev. 20:13

Question Time: Have you ever lied? Have you ever cheated on a quiz/test? Have you ever over eaten? Do you sometimes let out your anger with mean words?

I know that you answered those questions with a “YES” and so did I. We all hate sin am I right? We just wish that we can just be truthful, super smart, and just simply perfect. But, unfortunately sin is what gets us what we want.

Now, imagine you’re in class and you hear your friend cussing, a common sin, are you going to be like, “Oh he cussed I hate him?” No! Well, I hope not. It would be understandable to say you hate that he has to use those words in order to get a point across. In other words, you hate what he is doing. Not necessarily him!

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” -Eph 4:29

Still not getting it? Alright, all your friends are going somewhere and when you ask your parents if you can go, they say no. Deja Vu? No, it just happens to you so much. So later on you’re in your room screaming, in your head of course because a kid with some sense child of God would never say this out loud, “I hate you!We 100% know that you do not hate your parents. You hate the fact that they said no. You hate the fact that your friends are going to have fun without you.

“Whoever strikes his father or his mother shall be put to death”-Exo. 21:15

So back to homosexuality. I hate the sin. I hate that two people of the same-sex like each other, when God tells us not to. Just like I hate when people lie. That doesn’t mean I hate the person. I have TONS of gay friends that are some of the funniest people and greatest joys to have around, I just hate the choices they’re making.

Listen here, I am not judging nor am I implying that gays go to hell. If that was accurate then no one would ever go to heaven because we all sin. We all lie, cheat, don’t keep promises, over eat, etc. Jesus died for our sins.

John 4:16 states,” I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”

Jesus is flat-out saying why he was born and why he is going to be “killed.” which is to give the people full of sin (us) a path to heaven, because he knew that we would NEVER be able to make it there on our own. He sacrificed his life, in order for us to have eternal life.

Now, I’m not saying that being Gay is okay. Just like I’m not saying that lying is okay. I’m saying that Jesus died for what we do. We must ask for forgiveness and not do wrong intentionally.

Does that answer your question?

Rules Stink?

Do you ever think about how life would be without any bible rules? I do. If nothing was sinful, teenagers like us would be having a lot more fun together, right? Getting high with your best buddies would be hilarious every time you did it! Going to parties and getting you and your friends drunk to see what kind of crazy things you guys would do together! You guys are already crazy sober, so imagine what you would do drunk! Hooking up with all these guys because you want them to love you, something that you don’t really feel all the time. Lying to your parents about where your going. Cheating on a test to get great scores to raise your grades a little. The list goes on and on. Trust me, you are not the only one that has ever thought like this. It’s okay that we’ve been curious about it, we’re young we have so many questions! But sadly, curiosity did kill the cat, remember?

If you got high with your friends, you would have a moment of stress-free living. But, what about when that feeling wears off? You may say that the best answer would be to keep on smoking, but we all know that can lead to depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, difficulty remembering things and concentrating, weakened immune system, can increase risk of cancer, etc. If you have common sense and a conscious, then you know that NOTHING is worth having all those problems.

Getting you and a couple of your friends drunk can be fun at the moment, but what about the effects of it? Everyone knows that alcohol will cause problems in your brain, heart, liver, pancreas, cancer, and can damage your immune system. Are a couple of hours of stupidity worth life long diseases?

Fun Fact About Me: A family member of mine used to be an alcoholic when he was in his late 20’s. One day he was sent to the hospital and was in a coma for 2 months because of it. He now has pancreatitis, high blood pressure, diabetes, a damaged liver, the list goes on and on. He is 50 years old and has been having to live with this for about 20 years. Let me tell you this, everyday he regrets ever drinking because now he can’t participate in almost anything that his family does.

You may think that hooking up would be a fun way to get a little satisfaction, but what happens if you get pregnant? What will your parents think? How are you going to live the rest of your life? If you’re thinking that an abortion is the best option, who’s going to pay for it? Your parents? You felt mature enough to have sex but you can’t even pay for your own mistakes? And you’re willing to kill off a potential life because of something you did?

Lets say you asked your parents if you can go to a party next weekend with your friend, and they say no. Your friend asks their parents the same thing, and they said no. So, you and your friend make a plan to tell each of your parents that you are going to hangout together next weekend at each others house. So the day comes and your out there having fun at the party, when your supposed to be at your friend’s house, while back at home there is a huge emergency that causes a death (pretty huge I know, but it’s possible!) or what if YOU die! How are your parents going to know? They have no idea where you are or where you could be. (This scenario is pretty extreme, but you understand what I’m getting at, I hope.)

Let’s say there is this nerd in your class that is extremely easy to bribe. You never study for your tests, you never write your own essays or you just basically always plagiarise work. So, when the test comes along you decide to cheat off of this nerd and you do this all the time without ever getting caught. Yeah, you have had success in this, but what happens when you’re in a situation where you can’t cheat at all? Where the boards come up and block your neighbors answers. What about when you take your finals and aren’t able to cheat? Or when you go to college and no one gives in like the nerd in high school? You are going to know nothing and aren’t going to have the knowledge you were supposed to by this time. People are going to wonder how you even graduated with the way your brain works. You are never going to learn whether it’s academically or in a career because, in reality, you never actually learned how to learn. (Huh?) (Read it until you understand it!)

The topics above are all sins according to Jesus. We think it’s all just fun and games but don’t think of the consequences that come with them. Thankfully, Jesus does. God set out these “rules” of living to make sure that we do well in our lives instead of ending up like the people in the scenarios. He knows what is best for us and what will hurt us. Giving us these rules will prevent so many negative actions taken place in the future! God is nowhere near stupid, he knows what he’s doing! He knows the people who are going to disobey him and he knows the people who are going to follow what he says. Why not thank your creator by doing whatever makes Him happy? Because in the end, it’ll make your life a whole lot better!

“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
